Foreword

Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang is an educational institution that specializes in providing professionals in the fields of primary energy in Oil, Gas and Coal. South Sumatra is a province proclaimed as a national energy barn and the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang has responded to the challenges of the professional needs in energy sector.

A brief History

South Sumatra Province is one of the Provinces in Indonesia which has very abundant Energy Resources, and has been explored and exploited since before the independence of the Republic of Indonesia until now both conventional and modern. However, until now, there is no Universities in South Sumatra that specifically organize higher education in the fields of exploration, exploitation and processing of oil, gas and coal.

In accordance with the South Sumatra program as the National Energy Granary, the Governor of South Sumatra Mr. Ir. Syahrial Oesman, MM supported the establishment of the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang through the Karya Bangsa Foundation.

Following the Governor’s support, on August 20, 2005 the government of South Sumatra Province sent a letter with No. 2236 / As.II / 2005 to the Minister of National Education regarding the permit to establish the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang with 4 (four) Study Programs, namely:

  1. Oil and Gas Laboratory.
  2. Oil and Gas Processing.
  3. Oil and Gas Exploration.
  4. Coal Processing Technology.

 

Permission Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang Establishment was obtained through Decree of the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 224/D/O/2006 dated September 28, 2006 and No. 4887/D/T/2006 dated December 21, 2006, regarding the establishment of 4 (four) study programs, namely:

  1. Oil and Gas Laboratory.
  2. Oil and Gas Processing.
  3. Oil and Gas Exploration.
  4. Coal Processing Technology.

 

Based on the permit Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang began implementing new student admissions for the 2006/2007 academic year with 2 study programs, namely:

  1. Oil and Gas Laboratory
  2. Oil and Gas Processing

 

The number of students received was 19 in the Oil and Gas Laboratory Study Program and 35 in the Oil and Gas Processing Study Program.

The formal ceremony of the inauguration and the inaugural lecture of the first batch of 2006/2007 students was conducted on December 13, 2006 by the Governor of South Sumatra, Ir. Syahrial Oesman, MM., General Manager of PT. PERTAMINA (Persero) UP III Plaju, Mr. Ahmadi Hario and Chair of the Karya Bangsa Foundation, Mr. Ir. H. Abdul Rozak, M.Sc.

In the 2007/2008 academic year, Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang was able to hold 4 (four) study programs with a total of 114 students.

The realization of a superior institution in national in the field of energy and competitive in global in 2025.

  2. Fulfilling the needs of certified and highly competitive human resources in ASEAN level.
  3. Realizing the life of the academic community which is prosperous, optimal and conducive as well as synergizes with related parties.

Discipline Implementation System

  • Implementing a pattern of discipline as a basis for implementing daily lecture activities
  • Discipline coaching is professionally implemented by Ajendam II / Sriwijaya by prioritizing awareness building, discipline with the concept of no body contact.

 

Education system

  • The curriculum is designed based on the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) with reference to the industrial world, especially the energy mining industry.
  • Fieldtrips at the beginning of the lecture to give a real picture of the oil and coal industry

 

Student Activities

  • The mode for channeling creativity, talent and organization through BEM, MPM, DPM, HMJ and UKM
  • Specializing Friday for sports activities (aerobic gymnastics, badminton, futsal, table tennis, volleyball, sepak takraw, martial arts, basketball) and Student Organization Activities
  • The implementation of the Student Creativity Week (PKM) for a full week without lecture activities was held after mid semester in order to accommodate students’ creativity in art, sports and organization.

Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang symbol consists of 4 (four) elements, namely:

  4. The book with black frame is put together by a circle with black stripes with a ribbon that reads Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang below

 

Description of symbol colors :

  1. The black border
  2. Two red sea horse animals.
  3. Ampera bridge is dark brown.
  4. Yellowish red gas fire.
  5. Yellow Book with black trim.
  6. Blue background.
  7. The white ribbon with the black words of POLITEKNIK AKAMIGAS PALEMBANG.

 

Symbol Information:

  1. Fire with Five Tongues Yellow fire symbolizes life, illumination and burning spirit to achieve success based on Pancasila.
  2. Red Sea Horse means that the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang in implementing education aiming to develop a reliable and professional next generation in the Energy field.
  3. The Ampera Bridge symbolizes the location of the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang and describes the close relationship between the world of education and employment.
  4. Yellow books with black trim symbolize the source of knowledge.
  5. The circle with the basic color of blue with black stripes symbolizes a solid unity and work that is synergistic in achieving the goals of the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang in preparing human resources in the field of energy which has environmental concept.
  6. The white ribbon that reads the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang symbolizes the name of the institution and hopes of the Akamigas Polytechnic of Palembang to continue to excel.
